The fuel prices since the last pricing window in September 2019 has remained stable at major Oil Marketing companies in Ghana.

Major Oil marketing companies with regards to the increment from government in September 2019 also adjusted fuel prices at the pumps.

According to Mr Ofori-Atta, the government introduced the Energy Sector Levy Act (ESLA) Bond in 2017 to pay for legacy debts from the past government. Government has since raised about GHS 6 billion on the back of ESLA bond.

“Government proposes to increase the Energy Sector Levies by GHp 20 per litre for petrol and diesel, and GHp 8 per kg for LPG, so as to increase the inflows to enable Government issue additional bonds to pay down our energy sector debt obligations. Based on current indicative prices for petrol and diesel this translates to GHp 90 per gallon”.
