Gender Minister meets aggrieved School Feeding caterers over arrears

The minister pleaded with the executives to begin preparing meals again for pupils and gave them her assurance that the School Feeding Programme arrears will be cleared

Caterers for the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) met the Gender Minister, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, on Monday (5 June 2023) to consider practical measures to enhance the “one hot meal” provision for schoolchildren.

The minister pleaded with the executives to begin preparing meals for the pupils and gave the School Feeding chefs her assurance that their arrears will be cleared.

She said the government will consult more with all stakeholders to consider the suggested feeding cost of GHC1.20 per child.

She therefore urged them to cook nutritious meal to improve the well-being of the pupils.

The president of the Ghana School Feeding Caterers, Charlotte Ashanki Asante, said they are fully satisfied with the government’s willingness to release their funds.

She, however, said there should be an upward adjustment of the feeding cost per child for the year 2023.
