Ho: 2,500 streetlights to be installed ahead of Independence Day celebration

ECG is expected to repair non-functioning lights and also add new lights throughout the Ho township and surrounding areas including the new stadium

The management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says the company in collaboration with the Ho municipal assembly will install 2,500 streetlights in the municipality ahead of Ghana’s 66th Independence Day celebration in the region.

ECG is expected to repair non-functioning lights and also add new lights throughout the Ho township and surrounding areas including the new stadium where the event will climax.

The regional engineer of ECG, Michael Buabin told journalists at a press engagement on Friday (17 February) that the project is critical as Ho is to hold this year’s independence day celebration.

According to him, “ECG has a major role to play in the preparations towards 6 March. ECG has installed 1,315 KV transformer, we’ve deliberately drawn electricity power supply around the stadium.”

“We’re in touch with the Ho municipal chief executive to make sure that over 2,000 streetlights are replaced and even extended to within the municipality and adjoining routes leading to Ho township,” he added.

“We’re working hard to ensure no power outages before, during and after the Independence Day,” Buabin said.
