Ho: 734 youth being trained as community police assistants

The beneficiaries are being trained under the Youth Employment Agency's youth in community and security module

A total of 734 young people are to undergo a 10-day intensive training at the regional Police Training School in Ho under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) community police module.

The beneficiaries were shortlisted from the various districts in Volta, Oti and Eastern Regions of the country by the YEA under the Youth in Community and Security module.

Speaking to the media, the Volta Regional Director of the YEA, Emmanuel Quarshie said a total of 15,000 interested persons are to be trained nationwide to assist substantive police officers in Ghana.

He said the programme is part of the government’s efforts to reduce and eradicate youth unemployment, adding that, “most of them will be absorbed into the police service” and advised the beneficiaries to exhibit professional conduct.

The commander of the school ACP William Y Acolatse called on the beneficiaries to live above reproach.

For his part, DCOP Andrews Boadu Ekumah, the Volta regional police commander warned the beneficiaries to be of good behaviour throughout the training.

In all, 180 beneficiaries were picked from Oti, 139 from Volta and 415 are from the Eastern Region.
