I can pull votes for NPP in Volta Region, says Alan

The former trade minister said the NPP needs someone who can pull more votes in the region to help break the eight

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has said he has what it takes to swing votes in the opposition National Democratic Congress’s stronghold, the Volta Region.

The former trade minister said the NPP needs someone who can pull more votes in the region to help break the eight.

Appearing on Radio Tamale on Wednesday (23 February), Kyerematen said he can work magic for the party in both Ashanti and Volta regions to secure victory for the NPP.

“Even in the Volta Region, they keep on saying we’re not against the NPP but if you bring Alan Kyerematen as flagbearer the Volta Region will change,” he said.

“I am confident that if I become the flagbearer, I will be able to garner 80% of votes in the Ashanti Region, or two million votes.

“We cannot risk not having the opportunity to present a leader who can guarantee maximum votes from the Ashanti Region, and at the same time by the invisible hand of God I also happen to have the capacity to influence votes in the Volta Region,” Kyerematen said.

I’ve not endorsed Alan, says Ya-Na

Meanwhile, Ya-Na Abukari II, the overlord of Dagbon, has denied media reports that he has endorsed Kyerematen.

Media reports this week suggested that the Ya-Na endorsed the former trade minister when he visited the Gbewaa Palace on Tuesday (21 February).

But in a statement on Wednesday (22 February), the overlord of Dagbon said, “the attention of the Gbewaa Palace has been drawn to reports in various newspapers regarding the courtesy visit by the Hon Alan Kyerematen on His Majesty Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II. In particular, the reports suggest that His Royal Majesty had declared that it was the turn of Hon Alan Kyerematen to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a flagbearer”.

“His Majesty wishes to state categorically that he made no such claim”, the statement added.
