Illegal connection: ECG announces reward scheme for informants

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says it is going to embark on a massive revenue mobilisation drive and will also reward informants.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has said it has instituted a scheme to reward people who report persons engaged in illegal connections.

“Any money that will be charged, we will pay the informants 6%,” the Eastern Regional manager of ECG, Ing. Michael Baah told Asaase News.

He said that illegal connection is costing the company greatly, adding that the company will embark on inspection and revenue mobilisation every last Friday of the month.

Ing. Baah has therefore sent a strong warning to perpetrators of the crime to stop as the law will soon catch up with them, adding “most of the power we buy from GRIDCO is being consumed freely by unscrupulous people in the system.”

He said the revenue mobilisation drive will be carried out in all the 44 district operational areas in the Eastern Region.
