Andrew Bediako, the MCE for Jaman South, has appealed to Ambrose Dery, the Interior Minister, to withdraw the long-standing curfew between Japekrom and Drobo because the region is now completely at peace.

Socio-economic activities in the twin towns came to a halt after violence broke out on 3 April 2018. Three people died and 14 others were injured due to the violence.

Speaking in an interview with Asaase News, Bediako said the protracted curfew is affecting development therefore his appeal to the minister to consider lifting it.

“I am in talks with the interior minister,” Bediako said. “We’ve come to a level where everybody is aware that we are one people. So, we can not continue to have curfew in Jaman South. So, in our next meeting we will discuss and take it to national so they lift curfew. The President and the interior minister need to look at this curfew again.”

Bediako called on the people of Japekrom and Drobo to unite as one people for the sake of development.

“What we need in Jaman South is togetherness, so what we have to do is that as people let’s come together. Before we talk about development, the first thing we need to talk about is unity,” the MCE said.
