Keta SHTS outshines NSMQ winners, Prempeh College

Prempeh College on Friday (26 November) won the 2021 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz.

After hours of training and constant practice, sleepless nights the three schools in the final of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) were ready for the biggest showdown on Friday (26 November) at KNUST in the Ashanti Region.

The competition was pegged as one that will go down in history as one of the significant clashes of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

At the grand finale of the NMSQ, three schools had an impressive run for the trophy and the honour of being crowned the NSMQ winners. Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC-LEGON), Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) and Prempeh College were the schools respectively.

For each game, one team is the home team, and the other team is the away team. The team playing in its own city is the home team.

As the home team of the National Science and Maths Quiz, Prempeh College proved themselves worthy and emerged the winners. They bagged the grand prize of the quiz but Keta Shts are in the limelight. KETASCO mesmerized social media users who binge-watched this year’s competition.

This is the fifth time an Ashanti Region-based school has won the competition. Prempeh College came from behind and beat the defending champions Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School who was leading at all stages of the finale until the final round. PRESEC-LEGON came in second at the completion and KETA SHTS came in third.

The Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II congratulated the winners and said he was proud of their success when they presented the trophy to him on Wednesday (1 December) at the Manhyia Palace.

Despite Prempeh College being crowned the winner, they have not caught the attention of opinion leaders, philanthropists, media houses and important personalities in Ghanaian society.

It is as if Keta SHTS has taken all the glory especially the only female contestant in the finals, Francisca Lamini.

Keta SHTSs have been to a lot of interviews, their most recent and significant is their interview with Kafui Dey at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, where the contestants were each given a laptop.

Comments from social media users claim the bronze users are getting the most attention. They received a lot of cash prices from Absa Ghana, Citi FM to mention a few.

Francisca Lamini has been sponsored by Adansi Travels and Kenya airways as their support to her to join the winners of the competition on their International tour to Dubai and Nairobi somewhere in January 2022. Francisca said she will not be happy if she goes without her teammates. She revealed that she is not friends with the Prempeh Boys and that the trip would not make her happy.

In response to her concern, an organization offered to sponsor her teammates to join her on the January 2022 Dubai tour with the winners.

Today, KETASCO overshadows the glory of Prempeh College. I think it is a good opportunity for the school and the contestants of Keta SHTS. An opportunity for the KETASCO old students to seek the necessary support to get the school’s dilapidated science laboratory in shape.
