Kumasi: Aggrieved public workers to protest 4% salary increment

The demonstration set to take place in the Ashanti Region on 29 September is to protest the 4% salary increment

Some aggrieved public sector workers in the Ashanti Region are set to hit the streets to protest the 4% salary increment.

In a letter by the group, Aggrieved Public Sector Workers, to all offices of public servants, sighted by Asaase News, the demonstration in the Ashanti Region is scheduled for Wednesday 29 September 2021.

The workers are hitting the streets because the government has failed to listen to their plea to adjust the 4% salary increment to at least 25%.

They have asked all employers to allow their employees “free movement to the demonstration grounds”, threatening a legal action against employers who fail to do so.

“The association won’t take it kindly, and not hesitate to take a legal action against any employer who tries to intimidate our member(s) in any form during the said period.”

“In furtherance, those that won’t be able to come should do a sit-down strike in solidarity with those on the demonstration grounds only on the said date.”

They have also called on other associations and unions who are equally dissatisfied and disappointed in the current development to openly declare their support and join the demonstration in the metropolis.

In August earlier this year, aggrieved public sector workers in the capital, Greater Accra Region, hit the streets for the same reason.
