Major suppliers sign natural gas pact in Algeria

The 20 nations that make up the exporters forum hold more than 70% of the world's natural gas reserves

Energy rich nations including Russia, Qatar, Iran, and Venezuela have signed two key partnership agreements at the end of a major summit in Algeria.

They will work with Africa’s energy commission and East Asia’s economic research institute to promote sustainable development and improve energy security.

Leaders from more than 10 gas exporting nations attended the summit.

Algeria’s President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said the forum was determined to expand the use of natural gas.

The 20 nations that make up the exporters forum hold more than 70% of the world’s natural gas reserves.

Algeria is already Europe’s second-biggest pipeline supplier.
