MTN invests GHC64 million in community development
The head of Mobile Money Limited at MTN Ghana, Eli Hene, said the money was spent in the areas of health, women and youth empowerment, education and ICT
MTN Ghana has said it has spent GHC64 million on corporate social responsibilities across the country over the years.
The head of Mobile Money Limited at MTN Ghana, Eli Hene, said the money was spent in the areas of health, women and youth empowerment, education and ICT.
“GHC64 million has been invested in sustainable community projects,” Hene said at the company’s 2022 media and stakeholders forum in Ho on Wednesday (27 July).
“They cover education, health, economy empowerment and community initiatives. Training we gave to the youth in ICT, repairing of mobile phones and all that add value to the community. Examples are youth in the Suhum and Nsawam area, women empowerment, shea butter, oil palm and the list goes.”
He said MTN Ghana plans to spend GHC20 million more on new projects in the coming months.
“As we celebrated our 25th anniversary, we made specific commitments and in those commitments we’ll be spending over GHC20 million to complete specific projects including the commencement of work at Keta Municipal Hospital,” he said.
Hene said other projects include a two-storey maternity block and then construct a robotic center at the Mafi Senior High School.
“There are other ongoing projects and community support initiatives so those are the projects we are committed to invest in and GHC20 million will be spent towards that,” he said.
