Nana Konadu: We must all be interested in safety

The former First Lady says Ghanaians should be interested in security issues as threats of terrorism gain grounds

The leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings has cautioned Ghanaians to be vigilant and assist the security agencies to make the country safer.

“Everybody must be interested in our collective security as a nation. It’s not only the leadership of the country that should be interested in whether thieves are coming in or Boko Haram is coming in,” the former First Lady said at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday.

Agyemang-Rawlings said criminal activities have been on the rise and must be dealt with.

“We should all be interested because if you don’t take an interest in it, you will be overcome by events. I believe that the terrain of Ghana is so quiet that our neighbours think that we need a little bit of shake up.

“If we don’t open our eyes they will take over the country with their bad habits. So, wherever you are please don’t follow the crowd when they say police is troubling, the police is there to serve you, so let us try to work with these institutions when we can,” Konadu said.

The government has rolled out the “See Something, Say Something” campaign aimed at mobilising and providing the public with security education.
