New East Gonja MCE nominee receives Assembly’s unanimous approval

Richard Broni was nominated by President Akufo-Addo for the post of MCE of East Gonja after the President’s initial nominee, Mohammed Tamimu, was rejected twice

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s new municipal chief executive (MCE) nominee, for the East Gonja District in the Savannah Region, Richard Broni, has received unanimous approval from Assembly members.

In a vote held today(22 November) at the Assembly’s office premises, all thirty-four (34) Assembly members voted to approve the nomination of Richard Broni.

Richard Broni was nominated by President Akufo-Addo for the post of MCE of East Gonja after the President’s initial nominee, Mohammed Tamimu, was rejected twice by members of the Assembly, polling nine ‘YES’ votes as against 25 ‘NO’ votes.

The now approved MCE, Richard Broni, is believed to have the full support and backing of the Kpembe Wura, Babanye Ndefosu II.

Mohammed Tamimu, is the immediate past MCE for the East Gonja District, having served in that capacity, during the first term administration of President Akufo-Addo.

Over a 100 security personnel drawn from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prison Service, and the Ghana National Fire Service, were detailed to the assembly to provide security for the exercise to avoid any chaos.
