NPP flagbearer race: I’m ready to accept the outcome, says Akufo-Addo

Over 203,000 delegates are expected to participate in the election nationwide, which will take place in 275 polling stations and 16 regional centres

The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is prepared to accept the outcome of today’s polls to elect a new flagbearer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 election.

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto, a former Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former MP for Mampong are vying for the NPP flagbearer position.

Over 203,000 delegates are expected to participate in the election nationwide, which will take place in 275 polling stations and 16 regional centres.

In the Ashanti Region, 34,987 delegates will vote, whereas 4,204 delegates will vote in Ahafo Region. 39,134, delegates will vote in Greater Accra Region. Volta Region has a delegate number of 11,995.

Ahead of the polls, the four aspiring presidential candidates on Thursday (2 November) signed an undertaking to accept the outcome of the election.

Speaking to journalist after casting his vote at the NPP headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra on Saturday (4 November) Akufo-Addo said the polls has been peaceful so far.

“It has been a smooth and peaceful process, I am ready to accept the outcome of the polls, “Akufo-Addo said.
