Parliamentary primaries: NPP warns against camping, busing of delegates

Justin Frimpong Kodua also advised delegates to refrain from using their phones to capture their ballots after casting their votes

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a stern warning to parliamentary aspirants intending to transport or gather delegates for the upcoming primaries on Saturday, 27 January.

The general secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, emphasised that those engaging in camping or busing delegates would face disciplinary actions.

During a press conference held on Monday, 22 January, in Kumasi, Frimpong Kodua also advised delegates to refrain from using their phones to capture their ballots after casting their votes.

He unveiled a set of guidelines aimed at ensuring free and fair elections during the parliamentary primaries.

Frimpong Kodua stated, “The party has formulated these rules and regulations to ensure free and fair elections, and we believe that everyone should be allowed to feel free to walk to the polling centre to cast their votes. It is of this belief that we have made the statement that no one should camp delegates at any place.”

He added, “Those who take pictures of their votes, aside from nullifying your votes, it is an offence, and you would be handed over to the police.” The party’s proactive measures are geared towards maintaining transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
