Under sea cable cut: NCA rules out conspiracy and human factor

The damage which occured last week has since impacted internet, data and Voice over IP (VoIP) services of various telcommunication firms in the country

The National Communication Authority (NCA) has ruled out any human factor in connection with the damage of submarine cables in the Red Sea, disrupting telecommunications networks in some countries including Ghana.

The damage which occurred on Thursday (14 March) has since affected internet, data and Voice over IP (VoIP) services of various telecommunication firms in the country.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (19 March) Kofi Ntim Yeboah-Kordieh, deputy manager at the regulatory administrations division of the NCA said the cut is not as result of conspiracy theory.

“We deal with the industry players, these are the submarine cable providers, they have done their own investigations and that is what we are putting out there. So it’s not based directly from the regulator, this is sourced information.”

“The cut is not because of any conspiracy theories that they have in their mind, it is most likely an act of God…,” Yeboah-Kordieh said.
