I won’t testify or show my face to Nyantakyi in court, says Anas

Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has declined to show his face to Kwesi Nyantakyi and his lawyers in chambers as part of conditions to testify in court

Ghana’s award-winning investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has declined to testify in court on condition that he shows his face to the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi, and his lawyers in chambers.

Last week, Justice Marie Louise Simmons ruled that Nyantakyi, the accused, will be allowed to identify the witness (Anas) in chambers by “taking off the mask. This will happen every time he (Anas Aremeyaw Anas) comes to testify in the case until he is discharged.”

However, the undercover journalist said in a statement released on Thursday (18 May) that the condition puts his life in danger.

“As much as Anas is willing and ready to testify for the prosecution, doing so under the condition specified by the court, presents a clear and present danger to his security and safety,” the statement said.
