Twenty Italian businesses in Ghana to participate in 7th West Africa Agrofood & Plastprintpack trade show

In all 90 exhibitors from six countries namely Germany, Italy, Iran, Netherlands, South Africa and Sri Lanka have mounted pavilions at this year's exhibition

At least twenty Italian businesses are in Ghana to participate in the 7th West Africa Agrofood & Plastprintpack show and conference in Accra.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the conference in Accra on Tuesday (29 November), Italian Ambassador to Ghana Daniela D’Orlandi is optimistic the presence of the firms will impact local production.

“We are proud to bring to this important exhibition a large delegation of 20 Italian manufacturers of machinery and products from the plastic, printing packaging and agribusiness industries.

“We are sure their presence in Accra will allow Ghanaian companies to learn more about the possibilities Italy can offer to upgrade local production and allowing it on one hand to better respond to the increasingly sophisticated domestic demands.”

“Italian machinery in the plastic, packaging, printing and agri food sector are widely appreciated worldwide and have earned their side reputation through consistent efforts to support their clients,” D’Orlandi said.

Managing director of Maino Incubatrici SRL Alfredo Maino said the trade show presents the platform to market new technologies to their Ghanaian counterparts.

“This is a very good opportunity for Italians and Ghanaian companies to meet again, because we have been working a lot in connection with Ghanaian entrepreneurs and Italian suppliers in technology because Ghana’s private sector in manufacturing requires new technologies and development of new skills.”

“And it is very important that Italian companies are familiar with the Ghanaian market and Ganaian environment and this show presents that, because of proximity,” Maino said.

Raed Kassem, a sales representative of SZS Free said they are hoping to strike partnerships with some Ghanaian entrepreneurs.

“This is my first time in Ghana, but we are hoping to get some new partners,” he said.

The three-day conference is being organized by Fairtrade Messe in collaboration with its local partners, Geovision.

It is aimed at helping countries in the West African Sub-region to increase self-sufficiency and also improve supply in the agricultural value chain.

In all 90 exhibitors from six countries namely Germany, Italy, Iran, The Netherlands, South Africa and Sri Lanka have mounted pavilions at this year’s exhibition.
