Bawumia: No government under the Fourth Republic has built more roads than NPP
Addressing chiefs and people of the Kadjebi District, Vice-President Bawumia declared: “In the history of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, no government has constructed more roads than the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and it is on record”
The vice-president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said that no government since the start of the Fourth Republic can be compared with the New Patriotic Party when it comes to building roads across the country.
The vice-president was speaking at the commissioning ceremony for a 56.4-kilometre road project in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region.
The project was undertaken by Sinohydro Corporation Ltd and was funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
Addressing the chiefs and people of Kadjebi, the vice-president said, “In the history of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, no government has constructed more roads than the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and it is on record.”
Dr Bawumia the current hardship in Ghana is a result of COVID-19 and the Ukraine-Russia war but will soon be a thing of the past.
He added that the government is making every effort to relieve the pressure from the cost-of-living crisis.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, said Ghana will continue to see many road networks open under the leadership of the NPP, hence the need to support the government.
Amoako-Atta said that a good road network opens many opportunities to communities and places, and that is what the NPP is focusing on, ensuring that parts of Ghana with deplorable roads are given the attention they need.
The project, which falls under the Eastern Corridor Road programme, links southern with northern parts of the country and also parts of neighbouring countries.
The road also eases movement between towns such as Kadjebi, Menuso, Dzindziso, Poase Cement, Koto Nkwanta, Ahamasu, Dodi Papase and Dodo Pepesu.
The project is being completed under an engineering and procurement contract (EPC) between the Government of Ghana and Sinohydro Corporation of China under their Master Project Support Agreement (MPSA) to support priority projects in Ghana.
