2023 NSMQ: PRESEC clinches eighth trophy

Legon PRESEC won the contest with 40 points while Achimota School had 28 points and Opoku Ware School secured 20 points

Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) on Monday (30 October) won the 2023 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz.

Legon PRESEC won the contest with 40 points while Achimota School had 28 points and Opoku Ware School secured 23 points.

The school has now won the competition for the eighth time.

This makes PRESEC the most successful school in the history of the National Science and Maths Quiz competition.

Since its inception in 1993/94, only 11 schools have managed to clinch the NSMQ trophy, making it one of the most prestigious and difficult titles to claim in Ghana.

OWASS and MOTOWN had hoped to make it to their third win each in the history of the competition.

But hope and luck failed them; Achimota School the only co-educational school to have won the title failed to win it for a third time.

They have won the competition on two occasions – 1998 and 2004.
