The Ministry of Finance has described as false reports that President Nana Akufo-Addo is refusing the resignation of the minister of state at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen.
In a statement issued on Twitter on Friday (28 October 2022), the ministry said that “Rumours about the Honourable Minister of State tendering in his resignation are untrue” and should be treated with contempt.
Rumours about the Honourable Minister of State tendering in his resignation are untrue, and should be disregarded. Stories of this nature are unhelpful at this time, and the general public is advised to disregard them completely.https://t.co/N5q5VavQ5L

The rumours have been fuelled by the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
In a tweet, Ablakwa alleged that President Akufo-Addo has refused to accept the resignation of the minister of state.
Parliament may have to turn the heat on President Akufo-Addo.
Why is he refusing to accept the resignation of Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen?
The President continues to downplay the profound economic crisis created by his abysmal leadership.

The ministry said the allegations are “untrue” and “unhelpful” and it urged the general public to “disregard them completely”.
Adu Boahen had come under pressure on Tuesday as a group of members of the New Patriotic Party in Parliament demanded his removal, as well as that of the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, blaming the two men for the current economic slide that has taken Ghana into negotiations with the IMF.
The Majority MPs argued that the removal of both ministers will restore confidence in the economy.
However, after meeting the president on Wednesday, the Majority MPs softened their stance and accepted President Akufo-Addo’s proposal that the ministers stay in office to deliver next month’s Budget and seal Ghana’s bailout deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
