Light the World: The Church of Jesus Christ Christmas initiative is bringing hope to the hopeless

Yesterday, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched their heartwarming Christmas initiative, bringing together hundreds of families to spread joy and make a positive impact in their communities

The Church of Jesus Christ Christmas initiative, aptly named “Light the World,” encourages individuals to follow the example of Jesus Christ and serve others during the holiday season.

This year’s theme, “The Miracle of Christmas” emphasises the power of small acts of service that can collectively make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.

As the “Light the World” initiative by the Church of Jesus Christ unfolds, countless stories of selflessness and compassion are emerging.

The initiative serves as a powerful reminder that, even in the face of adversity, we can make a positive impact through acts of service and love.

The President of the Africa West Area for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, Elder S. Gifford Nielsen, said, “We believe that everything is based on our savior, Jesus Christ, and I think that one of the things that he always did was be light to everyone.”

“He brought light to everyone and that’s why we have this Light the World campaign throughout the world to show that we follow the example of our savior, Jesus Christ,” Nielson added.

According to Elder Nielson, the Christmas season is a time of reflection, gratitude, and giving.

“What we have done on the eastern side of Ghana, with all those flood victims and sending supplies to all those people, was just absolute joy to us. Those are the things that bring joy.”

The minister for information, Oppong Nkrumah, also noted that the yuletide is a time to be thankful for all that we’ve been through in the year.

“My message has been simple and that as we come to the end of the year, we are thankful for the gift of life.”

The minister, however, added that as we continue to embrace the spirit of Christmas, we must remember that it is through our collective efforts that we can truly make a difference in the world.

“I am also calling on all of us to be hopeful that we have the opportunity ahead of us to turn around the things that have not yet been fully successful.”

“And at the same time, to remain calm and grounded in our values so that, in the end, we can achieve the task ahead of us.”

Acts of Kindness

The “Light the World” initiative encourages participants to perform daily acts of kindness throughout the Christmas season.

These acts may include writing a heartfelt note to a loved one, donating to a charitable organisation, or reaching out to a neighbor in need. By embracing these acts of service, individuals can create a ripple effect of love and compassion within their communities.
