APPEB cylinder boss: Ghanaians must embrace cylinder recirculation model

The implementation of the cylinder recirculation module will be championed by the National Petroleum Authority and its partners under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy

Philip Nii Adjei Assafuah, the chief executive officer of APPEB Cylinder Manufacturing Company Ltd, has called on Ghanaians to support the cylinder recirculation module (CRM), describing it as a good initiative.

The implementation of the cylinder recirculation module will be championed by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and its partners under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy.

Under the CRM, residents of Accra and other parts of the country do not have to own a cylinder to use Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for domestic and commercial activities.

Filled LPG cylinders will be kept at exchange points for customers to pay for the content and pick up the filled cylinders after registering with their national identity card.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (15 August), Assafuah said any further delays in implementing the programme will pose a big challenge in the future.

“This is a major government initiative that we must all as a country support, otherwise if we fail to bring it into reality, we may have some challenges in the future.

“Other West African countries are already implementing this. I don’t know why we are delaying, but by the grace of God, it looks like NPA is determined to start by September. I believe that we should start from somewhere, once we begin others will follow,” Assafuah said.
