Black Bombers to know opponents ahead of final Olympic qualifier

Failure to qualify in Bangkok would mark the first time since 2004 that Ghana hasn’t sent boxers to the Olympic Games

The high-stakes tournament kicks off on Friday (24 May) and runs until Sunday (2 June), at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium. It’s the Black Bombers’ last chance to punch their ticket to Paris.

A total of 578 boxers from 132 National Olympic Committees and the Boxing Refugee Team will vie for the remaining 51 Olympic places across 13 weight categories.

The six-person Black Bombers team, led by head coach Ofori Asare, will be among them, facing off against opponents determined in Thursday’s (23 May) draw.
