GRIDCo donates relief items to flood-affected communities

The flooding along the confluence of the Volta River led to the submersion and significant loss of properties in numerous communities

Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCo) has donated a variety of relief items to support its sister utility, the Volta River Authority (VRA), at the NADMO head office.

This initiative aligns with GRIDCo’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment, emphasising its core value of “CARE.”

In collaboration with the Volta River Authority, the relief items were specifically earmarked for the victims and communities affected by floods in the Kete Krachi District of the Oti Region.

Saji Sedzi Amedonu, deputy technical director, expressed gratitude on behalf of NADMO for the substantial donation by the GRIDCo team.

The presentation of the items was conducted by Florence Adjei, director of human resources, and Samuel Kow Acquah Jnr, director of the Office of the chief executive, representing Ing. Ebenezer Kofi Essienyi, the Chief Executive, along with the management and staff.

Acquah emphasised GRIDCo’s concern for the well-being of its stakeholders, including those in its operational areas. He highlighted that this support would not only address immediate needs but also contribute to improving the quality of life for victims of the spillage.

GRIDCo remains committed to fulfilling Ghana’s Power Transmission needs and actively contributing to community welfare, development, and sustainable practices.

Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, director general of NADMO, received the items on behalf of the organization, expressing gratitude to the chief executive and Management of GRIDCo for their commendable initiative. He assured that GRIDCo’s support would complement other donations and help alleviate the challenges faced by the affected communities.

The relief items, including foodstuffs (rice, cooking oil, mackerel, tin tomatoes, sardines), purified water, mosquito nets, and sanitary items (disinfectants, washing powder & soap, bath soap, and toilet rolls), have been successfully delivered.

The flooding along the confluence of the Volta River led to the submersion and significant loss of properties in numerous communities, necessitating the urgent assistance provided by GRIDCo.

Also present at the donation were a segment of GRIDCo’s Corporate Communications Team, other NADMO officials, and members of the media.
