CPP withdraws from Ejisu by-election

The Ejisu seat became vacant after the Member of Parliament for the area, John Ampontuah Kumah of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), passed away on 7 March 2024, following a brief illness

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has decided not to participate in the upcoming by-election in Ejisu scheduled for 30 April 2024

It comes after a meeting by the regional executive to discuss the party’s chances in the by-election and the way forward in terms of reorganisation.

In a letter addressed to the regional director of the Electoral Commission (EC), the party said no one will be allowed to contest in the name or on behalf of the CPP in the by-election.

“I have been directed by the regional chairman to officially inform your office that the CPP is not interested and will not contest in the upcoming by-election in the Ejisu.”

“Hence, no one is allowed to contest in the name or on behalf of the CPP in the by-election in Ejisu,” the CPP letter said.
