Deputy CEO Of Minerals Commission files to contest Daboya-Mankarigu seat

Samuel Tika says the constituency is grappling with numerous developmental challenges, accusing the incumbent MP of doing little to improve lives

The deputy chief executive officer of the Minerals Commission, Samuel Tika, has filed to contest the Daboya-Mankarigu constituency primaries on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Tika is calling on the people of Daboya-Mankarigu, especially members of the NPP, to choose him as their parliamentary candidate to bring the needed developments.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, 23 December 2023, at the party office in Daboya, Tika said that despite having backed the incumbent MP in 2020, he can do better, adding that he is confident of winning the seat for the party.

“It is very clear that his work (the current MP) is not satisfactory to the people. You can see the people around; they have called me to come and contest because of the ideas I’m bringing,” Tika added.

He said that being an MP comes with so many responsibilities, rather than just going and sitting in the office “without lobbing and fighting for your people.”

Tika said the current MP Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini, who is also the deputy minister of health, has done less to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

The former constituency youth organiser for Daboya-Mankarigu, Karim Inusah, said Tika is well prepared for the task ahead of him to bring about the needed development.

Tika contested the seat in 2012 and 2016 but lost to the opposition NDC. The NPP has opened nominations in constituencies where they have their sitting MPs and will close the exercise on Monday 25 December 2023.

The final internal elections of the party have also been fixed for 27 January 2024.
