DopeNation: It feels great to be independent

The artistes after ending a short-term contract with Lynx Entertainment in 2020, have since been independent from any record label

Michael Boafo and Tony Boafo, popularly known as DopeNation, have expressed delight in being independent artistes.

The artistes after ending a short-term contract with Lynx Entertainment in 2020, have since been independent from any record label.

Speaking on the Between Hours Show with Naa Ashorkor on Monday (7 November), the duo said: “Being independent has led us to something great.”

They, however, said being independent artistes require maximum time and efforts, adding that the pressure associated with it is undeniable.

“Being independent makes inspiration and creativity famously unpredictable, you can release music when you’re ready,” the hitmakers of Gboza said. “We get to decide how to market and promote our songs, as compared to being with a record label.”

They said before being signed to Lynx, all administrative functions related to their musical career was managed and controlled by themselves. Hence, being independent is nothing new to them, but a stepping stone to greater achievements.
