Education is the foundation of development, says Buem MP

The MP encouraged the new board to work closely with the school’s management and staff to improve educational outcomes

The member of parliament (MP) for Buem constituency, Kofi Adams, says the development of a country depends on the quality of education for its citizens.

He said, “Education, in every sense, is one of the fundamentals of development. No country can achieve sustainable economic development without substantial investment in its human capital. Education enriches people’s understanding of themselves and world.

“It improves the quality of their lives…productivity and creativity, promotes entrepreneurship and technological advances. In addition, it plays a crucial role in securing economic and social progress and improves income distribution.”

In a speech read on the MP’s behalf at the inauguration of the reconstituted board of governors for Okadjakrom Senior High School, he reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education in Buem constituency.

Adams highlighted the crucial role of education in social and economic transformation and lauded the school for its continuous provision of relevant education to students in a disciplined environment.

As a former student of the school, the MP has supported the school in diverse ways towards its development. He has repaired the school bus, drilled a borehole and provided streetlights and building materials for the extension of culverts and the construction of the school’s main gate.

The MP is in the process of securing a corn mill for the school and has promised to repair faulty boreholes. He acknowledged the challenges facing the school including litigation issues, saying it hinders development.

Adams urged the board of the school, the Okadjakromhene – Osaberima Antwi Adjei IV – and the municipal chief executive, Elizabeth Kessewaah Anim Adjornor, to resolve the challenges urgently.

He encouraged the new board to work closely with the school’s management and staff to improve educational outcomes.

The MP was represented by Tsyawo Johnson, a tutor at Jasikan College of Education and an executive member of the National Democratic Congress in Buem constituency.
