Ejura murder: Kaaka’s brother gets GHC100,000 bail

Idi Mohammed has spent months in prison custody over the death of his brother and social media activist Ibrahim Mohammed alias Kaaka

The Kumasi High Court has granted bail to Idi Mohammed, brother of late Ejura-based social media activist, Ibrahim Mohammed aka Kaaka.

This was after his lawyers filed a request at the Justice Daniel Obeng’s court in Kumasi, after spending months in prison custody.

The court also ordered that the suspect reports himself to the CID weekly.

Loud silence disturbing

Kaaka’s mother Mariam Yakubu was in court for the first time to solidarise with her son. She is concerned about the loud silence of institutions that are yet to take action, as the family pushes for justice for their late son.

“We are grateful and happy today that bail has been granted to our brother. We will see to it that all the process and bail condition is satisfied so that our brother’s liberty will be given to him. We are still interested to see the end of the case to ensure that justice is served to Kaaka,” Mariam, 68, spoke to the media through a family spokesperson Nafiu Mohammed.

“To be frank I can tell you that almost all the institutions are yet to take action on our petition including Parliament. Even the office of the Chief Imam has not communicated to our family and this is disturbing,” she said.

Two other suspects, Fuseini Alhassan and Ibrahim Issaka have also been granted bail after spending months in custody. The death of Kaaka sparked clashes, leading to the killing of two others in the Ejura community.
