Fire sweeps through grocery shops in Adum

Eyewitnesses say five grocery shops have been damaged in the fire that started on Friday 4 February at roughly 3.50pm GMT

A massive blaze has swept through buildings within the Central Business District of Adum, Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region. Fire officials have confirmed that the fire destroyed quantities of property.

Eyewitnesses say five grocery shops have been damaged by the fire, which started on Friday 4 February at roughly 3.50pm GMT.

Firefighters are currently on the scene working to bring the blaze under control.

 

 

According to the Ashanti regional correspondent for Asaase News Jonathan Ofori, property owners looked on helplessly as any hope of salvaging any of their goods and property seemed to be dashed.

Ghana Fire Service personnel are yet to establish what caused the blaze.
