Freezy MacBones opts to discontinue Olympic qualifiers

Mac Bones has “decided to spend the rest of my career developing as a professional boxer and focusing on promoting great events with Macbones Promotions

Ghanaian boxer Seth Gyimah popularly known as Freezy MacBones has opted to discontinue competing for a place in the 2024 Olympic Games.

The 33 -year old told Asaase Sports in December that he would decide on whether to remain pro or continue with the amateur team in search of a place in this year’s Olympics in Paris after his match Nigerian boxer Olajimeji Salami.

Freezy Macbones had missed a chance to book early qualification for the Olympic Games after losing to Seydou Konate in the African qualifiers in Cameroon in September.

Freezy Macbones lost to Konate in a middleweight (80kg) Round of 32 clash on points in the first round of the qualifiers.

There’s another opportunity to qualify for the Paris Games in Italy next February but MacBones says he will no longer be competing in the qualifiers.

Mac Bones has “decided to spend the rest of my career developing as a professional boxer and focusing on promoting great events with Macbones Promotions,” he said in a statement.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all members of the Ghana National Boxing Team for giving me the opportunity to represent my country.”
