GBFA builds coaching muscle with first-ever IFBB Personal Trainer Certification

Forty-four fitness trainers were officially certified by the IFBB after gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their field

The Ghanaian bodybuilding and fitness scene received a significant boost this week with the conclusion of the country’s first-ever International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Personal Trainer Certification Course.

Held in collaboration with the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) and the IFBB Academy, the four-day intensive programme (22–25 April) equipped 44 fitness trainers with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their field.

This initiative highlights a commitment to raising the bar for professional fitness training in Ghana.

GBFA president Abdul Hayye Yartey emphasised the importance of the course, stating, “It is very important because we are training the trainers. People who train the people in the team we have to train them. There are a lot of them—about 90% who don’t have certification.”

“So bringing a bigger federation like the International Federation of Bodybuilding [to] organise this fitness course, it is very important; we know how certifications are very important so I think it is very important.”
