Ghana names provisional squad for 2024 Futsal AFCON

Before the final selection, the 28 players will undergo intensive training at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram

Ghana’s national futsal team gears up for the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a provisional 28-man squad named by Head Coach Philip Boakye.

The tournament will be held in Rabat, Morocco, from 11–21 April, 2024.

Before the final selection, the 28 players will undergo intensive training at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The final squad will be whittled down to 20 players who will battle it out on the court.

Ghana is placed in Group A, facing a tough challenge against Zambia, Angola, and the defending champions—host nation Morocco. This marks Ghana’s second appearance at the Futsal AFCON, with their debut in 1996 resulting in a remarkable run to the Finals, where they fell short to Egypt.

The Ghanaian squad hopes to replicate their 1996 success and potentially secure a coveted spot in the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Uzbekistan from 14 September to 6 October. The top three finishers at the Futsal AFCON will automatically qualify for the global competition, adding an extra layer of motivation for the Ghanaian team.
