Christian Atsu‘s body has been recovered in a lifeless state from the rubble following the devastating earthquake that occurred two weeks ago in Turkey, according to his agents Murat Uzunmehmet and Nana Sechere.
The body of the Hatayspor forward was found in the early hours of Saturday [18 February] after being trapped under the rubble for 11 days.
Nana Sechere, Atsu’s Ghanaian agent who had flown to Turkey to offer support to the rescue team, confirmed the sad news on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning
My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support

Atsu played 65 matches between 2012 and 2019 for Ghana at the international level. The highlight of his international career was a player of the tournament performance at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
At club level, Atsu played for various European clubs, such as Chelsea, FC Porto, Newcastle United, Everton, and Bournemouth.
