The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is forecasting a 4.4% growth for Ghana in 2025 from the 2.8% growth projection in 2024 and 2.3% in 2023.
The IMF announced this in its latest April World Economic Outlook released on the sidelines of the ongoing 2025 spring meetings in Washington DC.
This puts Ghana ahead of big economies in Africa including Nigeria which is forecasted to grow at 3.0%, South Africa at 1.2% and Angola at 3.1%.
The latest forecast will be a 1.6% increase in the fund’s projection for Ghana in 2024.
However, the IMF says Ghana’s current account balance which measures trade and financial activities in the country will witness a decline of –2.2%.
Senegal has the highest projection of 10.2% followed by Ethiopia and Uganda with 6.5%.
