Henry Quartey: REGSEC lifts security restriction on Borteyman land

REGSEC last year declared a land within the Borteyman and Adjiringanor enclave as a security zone effective 16 February 2023 following violence and clashes on the land

The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has lifted the security restriction on a parcel of land at Borteyman in the Greater Accra Region, the outgoing regional minister, Henry Quartey has said.

REGSEC last year declared a land within the Borteyman enclave as a security zone effective 16 February 2023 following violence and clashes on the land.

Two feuding factions, Empire Builders and Top Kings, have been fighting over the land in Borteyman with land guards wielding machetes and guns, and in some instances burning vehicles.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on the occasion of his birthday on Tuesday (12 March) Quartey said, “Following violence and clashes on Borteyman lands, REGSEC had no option than to place security restrictions on a parcel of land around Borteyman.”

“By the grace of God, we have gone through a series of meetings and interventions, and I think today being my birthday, we have taken the decision to lift the restrictions on Borteyman land and bring closure to the matter, so I can move on,” he added.
