Kofi Adams, MP for Buem, is optimistic of winning the seat again if there is rerun following attempt to challenge the constituency results.
He said he was never served to appear in court in the case of the Buem election petition filed at the Hohoe High Court.
Speaking to Kofi Abotsi on Townhall Talk on Asaase Radio, Adams said: “But I’m not really worried, if there is any CI that place them under Buem, there are possibly two ways that could happen; they can say vote for your votes to be added or we annul the election [and that] there should be a rerun of the entire process. Whichever way, Kofi Adams will win and even win bigger.”
The complainants, who are residents of 13 electoral areas in Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi and Likpe (SALL), filed a suit and a petition challenging the election of Adams and seeking a cancellation of the 7 December parliamentary election respectively.
The petitioners were also seeking the conduct of a new election which would include their 13 electoral areas to allow them to cast their vote.
Adams told Abotsi the petitioners have acted wrongly thereby destroying their agenda and political career with respect to Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi and Likpe (SALL).
NDC is Rawlings’s biggest legacy
According to him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is the biggest legacy of late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
“When he decided to go multiparty democracy per his endorsement of the constitutional arrangement that people voted for, it meant that if we needed to continue with the governance to push our ideals and beliefs then we must either establish a party or vamoose from the system. He chose the path of establishing a party and NDC came up. And that is what we used to prosecute his values and beliefs,” he noted.
Adams added: “So the NDC is his [Rawlings’s] biggest legacy. Indeed, he continued to show… his love and admiration for his party, the NDC. Of course, he may have had issues with personalities no doubt about that and he may have had issues with sometimes the way we were doing things.”
