Kenyasi: One dies after police clash with youth at Newmont

Four people so far have sustained injuries after the youth of Kenyasi Number 2 in the Ahafo Region clashed with police

At least one person has been shot dead after police officers stationed at Newmont Ghana in Kenyasi reportedly clashed with young people at Kenyasi Number 2 in the Ahafo Region.

A statement issued by the police on Tuesday (15 November) said four people so far are known to have sustained injuries in the clash, which led to the destruction of two vehicles.

“The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident at Kenyasi in the Ahafo Region on 15 November 2022, which resulted in the death of one person and injury to four others.
“Following the incident, some members of the community went on the rampage in the town, causing destruction to two vehicles,” the police statement said.
“Police have intensified law, order and security operations in the area and calm has since been restored.
Investigation continues and anybody found culpable will be taken through the due process of the law,” it added.
