Kumasi: Asaase Radio donates to Ghana Blind Union
The donation, including bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, margarine and detergents, is to help members of the union meet their daily needs
The staff of Asaase Radio in Kumasi (98.5 FM) have presented assorted items to the Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Blind Union.
The donation, including bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, margarine and detergents, is to help members of the union meet some of their daily needs.
Presenting the items on Friday 7 January 2022, at the union’s office at Fante New Town, the head of programmes at Asaase Radio in Kumasi, Naa Klordey Fritzel Abban explained the gesture forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities.
“We saw the need as a brand and as an institution to come to the aid of the Ghana Blind Union. These are things that are needful and they will be of great help [to their daily lives],” she said.
“As a brand with a corporate social responsibility, anyone who reaches out to us will benefit from such gestures,” Klordey said while stressing the need for other institutions to reach out to the disadvantaged.
The Ashanti regional chairman of the Ghana Blind Union, George S Kyeramateng who received the items on behalf of his members thanked Asaase Radio for the support and used the occasion to appeal to other philanthropic individuals and organisations to emulate same.
Asaase Broadcasting Company (ABC) Ltd, the mother company of Asaase Radio 99.5 FM, began operation on 14 June 2020. It has since expanded its reach to Kumasi with Asaase Radio Kumasi (98.5) and Radio 123 in Tamale (99.7), and recently added Asaase Radio 100.3FM in Cape Coast.
