Mamprugu group in UK donates desks to Nalerigu primary school

The president of the group, Dr Seidu Issahaku, said the members are optimistic the desks will help improve on teaching and learning in the school

The Mamprugu UK – Ireland group has donated 34 dual desks to the Nalerugu L/A primary school in the East Mamprusi municipality of the North East Region.

The group said the gesture was to help address lack of furniture in the school.

The president of the group, Dr Seidu Issahaku, said the members are optimistic the desks will help improve on teaching and learning in the school.

“The situation reported in the media was worrying and this has triggered the group to come to their aid. This is not our first time helping schools in terms of situations like this. We are doing this because we want the children to grow to become future leaders,” Issahaku said.

“The desks are 34 in number, but about 90 children can use them. This is because three children can sit on one desk for studies.”

He has since appealed to the government, NGOs, philanthropists, and other well-meaning Ghanaians to help the school with more furniture.

The SMC chairman of the school, Gumah Wuni reiterated the call for more support.

“The donation will go a long way to help the school. The floor of some of the classrooms are deteriorating and we are appealing to the government to consider helping the school,” Wuni said.
