Arab-Africa summit to take place at the end of this week

The Arab-African Summit aims to introduce a promising partnership between Arab and African countries and to improve bilateral and multilateral ties.

The Arab-African Summit will bring together leaders of the Arab League, the African Union and other regional blocs to reinvigorate Arab-African relations and foster cooperation in achieving global priorities.

Arab countries are actively seeking to expand and diversify their strategic partnerships beyond their traditional allies like those in the West.

In recent years, they have been exploring opportunities to forge deeper ties with African countries, recognizing the immense potential that these nations hold in terms of economic growth, natural resources, and geopolitical influence.

Through these partnerships, Arab countries aim to strengthen their regional and global position by leveraging the strengths and resources of their African counterparts. This includes trade, investment, infrastructure development, and knowledge-sharing, among others.

Furthermore, Arab countries are committed to establishing partnerships grounded in mutual benefit and respect, where both sides contribute to and benefit from the partnership. Doing so, they hope to create a more equitable and inclusive global system that helps all nations and peoples.

The summit will take place in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the 10-11 November, respectively.

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria is scheduled to attend, representing ECOWAS.

Nigeria has longstanding economic and diplomatic relations with Arab countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The special sdviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has stated, “Obviously, President Tinubu is very keen on ensuring that the Federal Republic of Nigeria within the context of the continent is in a position to maximally leverage on opportunities that will be afforded by the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, where we will be having a single trade market of over one billion Africans.”
