The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has directed metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure that social activities during this year’s Eid ul-Fitr celebration conform to all COVID protocols.
Quartey tasked the local government chiefs also to ensure that all beaches remain closed, in line with the directive issued by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during Thursday’s celebration.
In a statement, the minister called on Muslims to co-operate with various authorities to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana by exercising care during Eid ul-Fitr.
“Due to the new variant of COVID-19, we call on all and sundry to co-operate with government in ensuring the safety of everyone and help curb the spread of the pandemic,” Quartey said.
