My delivery guy story was for clout-chasing, says EL

Unbeknownst to his fans for all this time, all that EL said was a mere attention-grabber to stage a comeback to the music scene

Elom Adablah, better known by his stage name EL, has once again cleared the air about working as a delivery guy in the US.

The Artist of the Year at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) shared how he had hustled in the USA to make ends meet.

He told Caroline Sampson on Asaase Café on 16 April 2023 that he ventured into the delivery business because he was broke.

However, speaking on the Between Hours show with Keely-Jade Brewer on Tuesday (19 September), EL said all that he said was just to grab attention after his long hiatus.

“It’s just clout-chasing. That’s the new thing that artists do these days. People clout-chase,” the 34-year-old singer said.

He has, however, explained that “we [artists] clout-chase in so many of the things that we do. It might be subtle but other times too, it’s very overt.”

According to the “Koko” hitmaker, it is not in his character to clout-chase but he needed an attention grabber for his comeback into the industry.

“I am not known for stuffs like that, so it is really not in my character, but once a while we like to colour outside of the lines and express ourselves,” EL said.
