NDC: We are not behind Suame MP’s attack

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu accused members of the NDC of provoking artisans and spare parts dealers at Suame Magazine to hoot at him on Monday.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted claims that it incited artisans in Suame to manhandle the Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

The angry youth were protesting delays in fixing the deplorable roads in the area, which they say are hampering business activities.

Jantuah Boateng Dadson, a member of the communications team of the NDC in the Ashanti Region, said the youth protested because they were dissatisfied with the situation.

“Is he also blaming us for the one that happened earlier on? It is quite unthinkable that these are the very people who voted for you, for the past 28 years. So is he now saying that they don’t have a mind of their own and that if something is happening to their environment and it is not in their interest they don’t have the mind to speak to it?

“… the lies behind this road construction is too much.”

However, the MCE for Suame, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, has assured residents that the roads will be fixed.

“As we speak the contractor is on site, actually he came last Friday (15 July). He started work on the road last Friday (15 July).”

He added: “Initially like the organiser said we are contemplating fixing the roads or probably we are waiting for the interchange to commence so that it will be added to the work that will go on, but we realise that the road is in a deplorable state to the extent that we can’t wait between one year or two years. By the time we get there, I think the situation will be worsen than we are in now, so we agreed to fix it.
