Verbal attacks from Kotoko supporters affect players psychologically, says David Ocloo
Kotoko suffered a sixth defeat in a row last weekend and sit 11th on the premiere league table
Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo has claimed that the players are affected by the verbal attacks from the fans following their 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC in Dawu.
The defeat was Kotoko’s sixth in a row and sit 11th on the league table, four points away from the top four.
A goal in each half from Sylvester Simba and Derrick Atta Agyei ensured that the Porcupine Warriors remain winless in seven games.
Fans who are growing impatient booed at the players just like they have done in recent games. When asked after the game whether the verbal attacks affects the players psychologically, assistant coach David Ocloo replied; “It affects the boys a lot.”
“They have family members, they also go online on social media, they see things and sometimes psychologically, they get the effects. But will keep talking to them and [keep] psyching them up for them to get back. They are the same players who won eight matches continuously so they can still do it.”
Ocloo is also positive about turning their fortunes around with seven games to go.
“When you are losing, confidence goes down and you could see it in the first half, they were panicking and they couldn’t play how you and I know them to play. If we play the way we played the second half, I think we can turn things around.”
Asante Kotoko’s next game is a trip to the league leaders Samartex 1996 on Sunday, 20 April.
