North Dayi MP supports over 500 pupils to go to SHS

Each of the beneficiaries, both boarders and day students, received a students’ mattress, rubber bucket, students’ box, school bag and some exercise books from Jocelyn Tetteh, MP for the area

On Saturday 4 March, about 554 pupils who have completed junior high school in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region received support from the MP to enable them report to the various schools they have been placed for their second cycle education.

Each of the beneficiaries, both boarders and day students, received a students’ mattress, rubber bucket, students’ box, school bag and some exercise books from Jocelyn Tetteh, MP for the area.

The lawmaker gave some undisclosed amount of money to each of the day students. She called on the students to report to school early enough and prioritise their education above everything else. She said the items cost her “not less than GHC400,000.”

“As a member of parliament, your job is to make laws but I am not overlooking the oversight responsibilities.

“I wasn’t going to look at my primaries. In 2 months’ time, these kids must go to school. Even though I am not buying everything on the prospectus, I just feel that this is a difficult time, and as member of parliament for the constituency, I should come in to support the mothers in one way or the other,” she stated.

Students in all 9 traditional areas in the district received the support. They showered words of blessings on the MP.

A parent, Christian Tsey, from Tsrukpe whose 16-year-old daughter benefited from the donation praised the MP and appealed to her to “come with more of this because some of us here are fishermen and farmers and we’re not financially stable. At least, the items will reduce my burdens,” he said with a joyful voice.

The Zikpuitor of Botoku Akukome praised the MP for her good works. He said his traditional area has taken note of her “support since she became our MP and I promised her that no evil formed against her shall prosper. We the chiefs and people of Botoku are behind her”.

The MP said in 2022, about 80 youths benefited from vocational skills training under her initiative. She added that she is poised to do more for her constituents.
