Mustapha Ussif, the Member of Parliament for Yagaba/Kubori in the North East Region said the medical equipment cost over US$500, 000

Mustapha Ussif, the Minister for Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament for Yagaba/Kubori has donated medical equipment for distribution to some health centres in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region.

The donation was made on Friday (29 March 2024) at the district capital, Yagaba.

Ussif said he solicited support from a non-governmental organisation based in the USA, SOS Health and Hope organisation and they supported him with the medical equipment which cost over US$500,000.

The medical equipment includes an anaesthesia machine (the first of its kind in the district), hospital beds, baby incubators, wheelchairs, stool chairs, crutches, cannulas, tables, syringes and needles, laboratory testing equipment, office table and chairs, thermometers, gloves, goose, and several other equipment to be shared among some health centres in the district.

The move taken by the MP is to ensure that primary healthcare delivery is brought to the doorstep of his constituents

This comes after the district health directorate requested the medical equipment to strengthen healthcare delivery in the district.

The minister after handing over the medical equipment to the district health director said, “SOS Health and Hope Organisation is a US non-governmental organisation that as a Member of Parliament I reached out to and they donated a 40-footer medical equipment worth over US$500,000 to be distributed to the various health centres within the Yagaba/Kubori constituency.”

“So on behalf of the people and my behalf, as a member of Parliament for the area, I want to say thank you to SOS for this timely intervention,” he said.

The district health director for the area, Abdulai Abdul-Rauf thanked the MP for his unwavering support and promised that the medical equipment would serve their purpose to augment healthcare delivery in the Mamprugu Moaduri District.
