NPP 2020 manifesto to be outdoored on 22 August, general secretary hints

The New Patriotic Party drops a hint that it will outdoor its manifesto in the lead-up to the 7 December general election on 22 August 2020

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hinted that it will outdoor its manifesto for the 7 December election on 22 August 2020.

Addressing a press conference at the Alisa Hotel in Accra today, 10 August 2020, the general secretary of the governing party, John Boadu, said the NPP government, led by President Akufo-Addo, will continue to work hard to meet the needs of Ghanaians as long as it maintains political power.

“The times demand strong and decisive leadership on the issues that have impacted our lives. It is in pursuit of our stated goals that we have not only strengthened the economy but have also managed to provide social and economic support in terms of cost-free water and electricity as well as business support schemes.

“The NPP vision of the way forward captured in our manifesto 2020 will hopefully be shared with Ghanaians on 22 August 2020. We ask you to look forward on that day to heartwarming policies detailing how, with your support, we will transform Ghana for the benefit of all,” the NPP chief scribe said.

“Your NPP government remains focused and expect a massive turnout on 7 December to consolidate the leadership and good governance offered by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” Boadu said.

Registration in border constituencies

In his statement, the NPP general secretary said that information available to the party shows that there has been a significant reduction in the number of people who registered at border constituencies across the country during the just ended 2020 Electoral Commission (EC) registration exercise.

He added that the development is a clear indication that the previous voters’ register was not credible and that the EC’s decision to compile a new one was timely.

“Pursuant to the advent of COVID-19, the security duty was enhanced to include the containment measures required against COVID-19. The NDC had full knowledge of these measures and did not complain.

“It is the same deployments that coincidentally, had to be in place to prevent not only illegal entries against COVID-19 but also the influx of non-Ghanaians seeking to be part of the voter registration exercise,” Boadu said.

“Consequently, there has been some reduction in the registration figures in border constituencies.”

The NPP secretary went ahead to identify about 33 border constituencies where there has been a reduction in the number of persons who have registered to vote on 7 December 2020. They include:
