Farida Bedwei: Kotoka International Airport is among the best for disability travel

The software engineer commended the staff at Kotoka International Airport for making her travel experience relatively stress-free

Farida Bedwei, a software engineer, living with cerebral palsy has described the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) as one of the best facilities to use when it comes travelling by persons with disability.

Bedwei recounted how she had to wait for about 30 minutes with an assistance staff before boarding a plane in Rwanda.

Sharing the news on Facebook on Wednesday (24 April), Bedwei commended the staff at Kotoka International Airport for making her travel experience relatively stress-free.

“I think when it comes to disability travel, Kotoka International Airport is one of the best! I don’t get almost left behind like I do in other airports.

“In Kigali, I had to wait alone with the assigned assistance staff at the boarding gate for almost 30 mins after the passengers had boarded; I thought the plane would leave me!.”

“When we got to the plane too we had to sit in the ambulift for over 10 minutes, banging on the aircraft door before they opened it for us – don’t take the ability to climb the aircraft stairs for granted oo, the alternative is very stressful! Kudos to the ground staff at Kotoka for making my travel experiences relatively stress -free,” Bedwei said.
